Sayan was born and raised in West Bengal, India. He earned his BSc in 2016 from Calcutta University and his MSc in 2018 from Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar. He completed his PhD at the Indian Institute of Science under the supervision of Prof. Santanu Mukherjee, focusing on the total synthesis of naturally occurring ladderanes. In September 2025, Sayan joined the Sarlah group as a postdoctoral fellow, where he is working on the total synthesis of bioactive natural products and the development of new synthetic methodologies. Outside the lab, he enjoys listening to music and drawing.
